Wry, danceable post-punk with a healthy dose of self-mockery

Montevideo is a post-punk and indie rock band from Toulouse, France. Sung in English, their music sits between radio-friendly rock, post-punk and underground influences: modern, playful post-punk full of self-deprecation, casting a sharp eye on the world around them. For fans of Talking Heads, Fontaines D.C., Gang of Four, Gustaf and Art Brut.

With their debut EP in 2024, Magic RPM ranked them among “the 15 French underground bands to watch”. Supported by Le Metronum, Toulouse’s contemporary music venue, the band has since played more than 60 shows, including Paloma (Nîmes), Festival P&P (Argentat), Chill & Chouilles, Melody Maker (Rennes) and Aerofab (Nantes), and opened for the Sex Pistols. They continue to grow on the French underground rock scene with a new EP due out in October.
