Analog Diwan Music

Mezar plays bedouin psych blues, driven by a trance with Afro-Eastern roots and analog textures. A sound somewhere between Ali Farka Touré’s desert and Elias Rahbani’s Levant. On stage, cigar box, synths, vocals, bass and drums fuel a hypnotic live show.

In 2024, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts, Mezar released the EP Sohan (the story of a Tuareg dreaming of becoming an astronaut), presented at the MaMA Convention and named a finalist for the Prix des Musiques d’Ici.

Two years later, the group returns with Under the Red Moon, a live session in collaboration with the Canadian-Jordanian label Keife Records. A residency at the Centre National de Création Musicale Voce (Corsica, early 2026), supported by the European program Rawabet, nourished new compositions: the ones performed onstage today, ahead of their recording for Nafs, a forthcoming album carried by that same trance.
